Physical Characteristics of Mount Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is the tallest freestanding mountain in the world, with a peak elevation of 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level. It is formed from 3 distinct volcanic cones – Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira. Kibo is the highest peak, followed by Mawenzi and Shira.

The mountain can be divided into 5 different zones – the forest zone, alpine zone, scree zone, snow zone, and summit zone.
