Day 0: Arrival in Tanzania

Welcome to the heart of Africa! Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a warm, friendly face from KCTE will greet you. We'll manage your transfer to one of our carefully selected hotels in Moshi, ensuring a restful stay to prepare for the journey ahead. Day 1: From Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

  • Elevation: 2,360m to 2,895m
  • Distance: 6 km
  • Trekking Time: 3-4 hours
  • Habitat: Rainforest

After a hearty breakfast in Moshi, we drive to Londorossi Gate, where our trek begins. The first day is a gentle trek through lush rainforests, home to colobus monkeys and vibrant birdlife. Your night's stay at offers a mesmerizing canopy of stars — a perfect introduction to Kilimanjaro's wonders.

Day 2: From Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp

  • Elevation: 2,895m to 3,505m
  • Distance: 8 km
  • Trekking Time: 5-6 hours
  • Habitat: Moorland

Ascending through the forest, you'll notice a change in vegetation as you enter the moorland zone, characterized by heathers and stunning volcanic rock formations. Views of the of Kilimanjaro begin to emerge. Tonight, you'll camp at Shira 1, where the stretches wide and the sunset turns the sky fiery red.

Day 3: From Shira 1 Camp to Moir Hut

  • Elevation: 3,505m to 4,200m
  • Distance: 11 km
  • Trekking Time: 5-7 hours
  • Habitat: Semi-desert

Your trek continues across the expansive Shira Plateau, with its dramatic landscapes. You might feel the effects of here, so pace yourself and drink plenty of water. The Moir Hut is nestled in a secluded area at the base of a massive lava flow.

Day 4: From Moir Hut to Buffalo Camp

  • Elevation: 4,200m to 4,020m
  • Distance: 12 km
  • Trekking Time: 6-7 hours
  • Habitat: Alpine desert

Today involves some ups and downs as you trek the northern slopes, offering unparalleled views of the Kenyan plains. The isolation of the is palpable, giving a sense of peace and solitude as you traverse this less-traveled path.

Day 5: From Buffalo Camp to Third Cave

  • Elevation: 4,020m to 3,870m
  • Distance: 8 km
  • Trekking Time: 5-7 hours
  • Habitat: Alpine desert

This stretch of the journey allows for as you walk up and down the rolling hills of alpine desert. The vegetation is sparse, but the views to the east, toward Mawenzi , are simply breathtaking.

Day 6: From Third Cave to School Hut

  • Elevation: 3,870m to 4,800m
  • Distance: 5 km
  • Trekking Time: 4-5 hours
  • Habitat: Alpine desert

Today you ascend to School Hut where you will rest and prepare for the summit attempt. Hydrate and rest adequately — tonight, you embark on a journey to the highest point in Africa!

Day 7: From School Hut to Uhuru Peak and down to Millennium Camp

  • Elevation: 4,800m to 5,895m (and down to 3,950m)
  • Distance: 6 km ascent / 10.5 km descent
  • Trekking Time: 6-8 hours ascent / 4-6 hours descent
  • Habitat: Arctic

Departing around midnight, the climb to Uhuru Peak traverses the starkly beautiful arctic zone. The challenge is immense, but reaching the summit as the sun rises is an unrivaled reward. After your success, descend to Millennium Camp for a well-earned rest.

Day 8: From Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate

  • Elevation: 3,950m to 1,640m
  • Distance: 10 km
  • Trekking Time: 3-4 hours
  • Habitat: Rainforest

The final descent takes you back through the rainforest to Mweka Gate. Celebrate your accomplishment here before we transport you back to your in Moshi. Enjoy a celebratory dinner and reflect on the achievement of a lifetime.

Departure Day: Goodbye Tanzania

After a restful night in Moshi, we will transport you back to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home. The memories of Kilimanjaro, however, will linger forever.
