About The Trek

Climb Mount Kilimanjaro via the Marangu Route

A classic Kilimanjaro trekking experience combining comfortable mountain hut accommodation with spectacular landscapes on the route to Africa's highest summit.

The 5-Day Marangu Route Kilimanjaro Climb is one of the most established ways to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Often known as the "Coca-Cola Route", Marangu is popular because it uses mountain huts instead of tents for overnight accommodation.

The trek begins at Marangu Gate on the southeastern side of Kilimanjaro and passes through the lush rainforest before entering the heather and moorland zone.

From Horombo Camp, the route continues toward Kibo Hut, the final overnight stop before the summit. The summit ascent begins around midnight, taking you toward Gilman's Point, Stella Point and ultimately Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres.

After reaching the summit, you descend through the same route toward Horombo and eventually Marangu Gate, where your vehicle will transfer you back to Moshi.

Why Choose Marangu Route?

  • Classic and historic Kilimanjaro route
  • Comfortable mountain hut accommodation
  • Well-established trekking infrastructure
  • Beautiful rainforest scenery
  • Gradual approach toward Kibo
  • Spectacular views of Kilimanjaro
  • Ideal for trekkers who prefer huts over camping
