About The Trek

7-Day Mount Kilimanjaro Climb via Marangu Route

A gradual Kilimanjaro trekking adventure featuring mountain hut accommodation and two dedicated acclimatization nights around Horombo before the summit attempt.

The 7-Day Marangu Route Kilimanjaro Climb is an excellent option for trekkers who want to experience the classic Marangu Route while allowing additional time for acclimatization.

Often known as the "Coca-Cola Route", Marangu is famous for its established trail and mountain hut accommodation. Unlike routes that rely on tents throughout the trek, Marangu provides sleeping huts at the principal overnight stops.

The journey begins at Marangu Gate and climbs through the tropical rainforest to Mandara Hut. The trail then continues into the beautiful heather and moorland zone before reaching Horombo Hut.

This 7-day itinerary includes two nights at Horombo Hut. The additional time allows trekkers to undertake a high-altitude acclimatization hike toward the Mawenzi area before continuing toward Kibo.

After crossing the high-altitude Saddle, you spend the night at Kibo Hut before making the summit attempt toward Gilman's Point, Stella Point and Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres.

Why Choose the 7-Day Marangu Route?

  • More gradual itinerary than shorter Marangu climbs
  • Two nights at Horombo for better acclimatization
  • Comfortable mountain hut accommodation
  • Beautiful rainforest and moorland scenery
  • Spectacular views of Kibo and Mawenzi
  • Professional guides and mountain support crew
  • Opportunity to reach Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres

After breakfast, depart from Moshi and drive to Marangu Gate. Complete the registration and park entry procedures before starting your Kilimanjaro climb.

The trail enters the lush rainforest, where the environment is cool, green and often filled with birdlife. Walk at a comfortable pace while your guide establishes the rhythm for the trek.

Continue toward Mandara Hut, arriving in the afternoon. Settle into your mountain hut, enjoy dinner and rest overnight.
