Continue along the forest trail toward Machame Camp, enjoying the cool atmosphere and dense vegetation. Your mountain crew will prepare camp while you relax and enjoy dinner.
Machame Camp → Shira Camp
MoorlandLeave the rainforest behind as the trail becomes steeper and enters the heather and moorland zone. The landscape gradually opens up, providing spectacular views across the surrounding countryside and toward the summit of Kilimanjaro.
After several hours of trekking, arrive at Shira Camp on the Shira Plateau. This high-altitude environment provides an excellent opportunity for your body to begin adapting to the increasing elevation.
Shira Camp → Lava Tower → Barranco Camp
AcclimatizationToday's trek is one of the most important acclimatization days. You climb toward Lava Tower at approximately 4,630 metres before descending toward Barranco Camp.
The "climb high, sleep low" principle helps your body adjust to the altitude. Along the way, you will cross the dramatic alpine desert and enjoy spectacular views of Kilimanjaro's volcanic landscape.
Barranco Camp → Karanga Camp
Southern CircuitWake up to magnificent views of the Barranco Wall. After breakfast, begin the exciting climb up the wall, using hands and feet where necessary. The route is challenging but highly rewarding.
Once above the Barranco Wall, continue through the spectacular alpine landscape toward Karanga Camp. The shorter trekking day gives you valuable time to rest and prepare for the summit push.
Karanga Camp → Barafu Camp → Uhuru Peak → Mweka Camp
Summit DayThis is the most demanding and rewarding day of your Kilimanjaro climb. After an early meal, begin trekking toward Barafu Camp, the final base camp before the summit.
After resting and preparing your equipment, the summit ascent begins around midnight. Trek slowly through the darkness toward Stella Point before continuing along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 metres.
Celebrate your summit achievement before beginning the long descent toward Mweka Camp. The descent provides a welcome change in scenery as you return toward the forest zone.
Mweka Camp → Mweka Gate → Moshi
DescentEnjoy your final breakfast on the mountain before beginning the descent through the beautiful rainforest. Continue toward Mweka Gate, where you will complete the park exit procedures and receive your summit certificate.
